WOOD at Canoga Bowl

I was not disappointed spending my New Year's Eve here to take pictures and write about my favorite band, WOOD. First, the band hosted a karaoke contest to let everyone get up and be a part of the action. Then, Joker's Paradise warmed up the crowd with a few covers and they covered them well pleasing the audience. Then, the count down for 2000 came down and that's when WOOD took over the stage that was filled with fog like it was Armageddon. What everyone was expecting to happen for Y2K happened here. The power even blacked out for a minute with all their equipment blowing fuses and once back on line the thunder and lightning flashed and roared as they opened with such heavy songs like "Yesterday's Gone." And they spun through songs like "Spinner" and "Insanity" and the grand finale was a song called "Vlad The Impaler" that built to a frenzy while they impaled a life size Satan doll and then decapitated him exploding confetti like a Piñata on everyone. And thanks to Wood, a symbolic Armageddon was fought and won. Afterwards, I heard comments from some new fans that they heard hints of Pantera and Metallica and hints that this would be the next band to rise out of L.A. |
