After a recent performance at the most prestigious club in West Hollywood, the Key Club on Sunset, where WOOD opened for the legendary band W.A.S.P. on Halloween weekend, it was no surprise when WOOD was awarded "Best Metal Band" at the 2nd Annual ALL ACCESS Magazine Awards Show hosted at the Key Club!

L.A.-based WOOD has come a long way through the years. Known to be one of the hardest working indie bands around, everything the band does is done in a big way: from full-page color advertising, to flyers, and even a six-foot sign to advertise their next show--which can be found in the back of lead vocalist/guitarist Hawks' truck. This sign is driven throughout the L.A. area for weeks before each show. There's no doubt: when it comes to promoting a show, WOOD gets the word out.

But does all this promotion make a band good? NOT! At their Key Club gig it was apparent that promotion wasn't all WOOD had been working hard at. "I truly can't remember when I have heard WOOD sound this good," was one of the many compliments I heard on the floor.

Like never before, WOOD exploded on stage! Their music was tight and their performance was professional caliber. Members Frank Hawks, Mike Breene (lead guitar), Franko Sigmon (bass), and Bobby Richards (drums) were musically sound and in sync. Right from the start WOOD's enthusiasm pulled the Key Club's crowd closer and closer to the stage, like a giant magnet.

Delivering both intense vocals and powerful musicianship, WOOD captivated their audience, who responded with cheers and applause--wanting more and more!

Unbelievable talent combined with intense and profound lyrics best describes WOOD. If you like old-school in-your-face hard-core metal, influenced by Godsmack, Tool, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Korn, and Metallica, then go see WOOD. And be sure to catch their new song, my fav, "Fallen Angel." It's a sure-to-be hit single for the band. Find out more about WOOD at thebandwood.com, or call 818-887-2079.
